It was supposed to be a birthday treat from me for a dear friend of mine–a writer’s workshop with her Inspire Writer’s Group. I attended to spend time with her, and my heart heard the unexpected call to write!
The speaker, Dr. Portia Hopkins, spoke with knowledge, passion, conviction and encouragement. Her words created a bonfire in my fearful and hesitant heart. Me, write? From her podium, and through the notes I wrote on her Power Point presentation, she urged me to believe I could.
Dr. Hopkins is a professor at William Jessup University.
The next step: The privilege of joining the writer’s group, Inspire Writers. The blog has helpful writing tips, articles and local author interviews.
The finale: I was accepted into a most imperative support group for editing, and helps for a new writer–one of Inspire’s Critique Groups.
David Veliquette the most wonderful man in my life, and a supportive, knowledgable poet/graphic artist. He displays his artwork as DavidArtist.
Dee Aspin is a dear friend and fellow writer, who informed me that I am a writer, also. She deserves the credit for encouraging me to step into this new world of words. Please visit her blog. Her newest published book, dogSpirations is worth a read. Her previous award-winning book is wonderful for Singles http://www.LordoftheRingless.com
Elaine Faber is a fellow Inspire Critique Group member. She writes historical fiction with humor. Her edits help me immeasurably. Please read the interview with her newest character.
I attended a wonderful concert that benefited Alpha K9, that provides service dogs for America’s returning veterans, http://www.rsvpchoir.org
